This, That, and The Other Thing

Took a trip to Old Navy today with the beautiful Emily Trader which I haven't done in way too long apparently. The clothes I've bought from both Gap and Old Navy have been.. um... made very poorly so I haven't had any incentive to go back. But, I did and I am so glad I did. I found some clearance items, added a storewide 30% off, and then another 40% off on top of that. So, I walked out with all this stuff for super cheap. I love love love it all! My favorite finds of the day are the boots and the green dress.

In case you were wondering; yes, this is what I do for fun.

On another note, Ramona has found a new fascination with our kitchen rug. I'm always stepping on her because I can't see her! Here's why:

She has also discovered the bathtub. But that's more annoying than anything because she thinks my shower curtain is something she is allowed to climb. I assure you, you fluffy devil, it is not. She does know how to be sweet and adorable too though.

Lastly, I would like to leave you all with this picture drawn by my creative husband, showing how much he loves me. It involves a ninja fighting a T-Rex, a rocket ship zooming through the sky, a blimp (still haven't figured that one out yet) and a train flying. Observe:

6 Months

Today marks our "6 month" anniversary of our wedding day. It's a bit nuts to think it's already been 6 months, because it still feels like yesterday and I hope that's the way it is for the rest of our lives.
Unfortunately, I have to work tonight, so we went out last night to celebrate and a beautiful Italian restaurant in Watertown. We've been there only once before, but we don't go too often because they are a bit on the pricey side. But hey, I guess we'll only get one 6-Month anniversary together, so what the heck.

These last 6 months have been insane. And when I say insane, I mean incredible. Traveling,  moving, starting from scratch and working our way up has been an experience unlike any other. I think the best part of all of this has been; even when we didn't have hardly anything besides an air mattress and some clothes we still felt completely blessed, and happy. I remember the first time we saw our apartment- so empty- I couldn't help myself from picturing all of the memories to be made in this place. I am so very happy to have been married to this man for the 6 months I have been, and I cannot wait for the years to come.

Love you, Buster.

The Time We Get

I've said it a hundred times before, but I guess i'll say it again. We don't see each other much- but when we do, we fill our time with totally lame movie time, cooking, walking, and occasionally, game time.
The most recent "game time" in particular is from us wanting to lay in bed in our pjs but, also play trivial pursuit at the same time. Did we figure out a way? We always do...

Ramona was playing, too.

Fun AND lazy at the same time!

Lastly, I have a video from last night. There was a monster under our entertainment center.

Andrew Bird

Attended a little concert for Andrew Bird on Wednesday night. That guy is amazing! He's an entire Orchestra rolled up into one single person. Violin? sure. Guitar? no prob. Professional whistling??? absolutely. All three at the same time? Piece of cake.
I had a fun time. The place was small and cozy (but very hot!) There were waaay to many "hipsters" present there. I felt a bit overwhelmed by all the thick rimmed glasses, suspenders, scarves, sachels, fanny packs and "organic water" all around me. Blegh. Seth would've probably died laughing.
But all in all, it was nice to hear some good music live, spend some time with Amanda and get out of Fort Drum. Too bad it was (and still is) raining.
The street the venue was on was called "Andrew St." Weird!
Squinting at the bright flash!

Keeping Busy, Keeping Warm

Wednesday night went well- Andrew Bird in concert is ten times better than Andrew Bird not in concert, and I didn't even know that was possible. But more on that later.
Today is COLD in New York. Burrrr! The rain is cold. The wind is cold. I'm cold. I don't want winter to come. You mean it's going to get colder here??? wahhhh!
Anyway, I'm trying to keep busy. I made pumpkin muffins yesterday, went grocery shopping today followed by cozy-ing up on the couch with a blanket and a book and hot coffee, and tonight we have dinner and movie night at the Trader's home. Good Will Hunting- here we come!

As a side note, Dugan and I have been busy all week long this week and haven't been able to see each other very much. He works during the mornings, and I work  in the evenings. It sucks, but I prefer the night schedule at work. It's less stressful. Anyway, It's good to lay around the house this weekend with him (what's new, right?). Whatever. We like our days lazy. We do crazy things too! Like going to Cici's for dinner and the movies every once and awhile. That's crazy, right???

My last thought of the day is about those fruit flies that used to think they ran the house. I spent a lot of time chasing them and killing them until my sister gave me the idea to trap them like SUCKERS! See here:

Look at all of them! That's only a week worth!

Cheap tequila plus plastic wrap equal fruit fly death trap. I change the traps about once a week, and they never cease to fill up. Thanks, Hillary for the idea! I promise I have a clean house- the bugs just come to bother me and hover around my bananas. Not anymore! Victory is mine.

Another Post

Yes, here's one more post about my kitty, but I see her most throughout the day, and I promise I won't post (much more) after this one.
This morning we are lounging around the house, in anticipation for the Andrew Bird concert tonight I am going to with Amanda Mocco. Fun all around!
Here are just a few sweet photos taken this morning.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

My Dear Friend, Rachel

So, tomorrow afternoon I have to take Rachel back to the airport so she can fly home to Arizona. I can't tell you how much I want her to stay here. I've only been living in New York for a little over 5 months, and it's hard. It's hard missing everyone everyday and holding it together. Sometimes, I just get so sad because all I want to do is just sit next to my brother and have a conversation with him, or curl up on the couch with my mom and watch a movie- but I can't. Having Rachel here, in my world, has been a true blessing for me. It has helped me lift my head a bit and soldier on for a bit longer. I know, sad story. But this isn't about me.
This girl here, she gets it. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to share the many values and virtues that we do. She knows what makes a friend, and what doesn't. I laugh twice as much when I am around her and vice versa, so it's just a crazy circle of laughter and it is fantastic.

I am very sad to say goodbye to this friend of mine. I hope, perhaps we will have more time together in the future because, let's face it, we are fun! I love her madly and I am so very lucky to have her in my life. Thank you, Rachel, for taking some of your own time and money to come visit me and make me laugh again.
You rock.

The Pumpkin Pie

Last night, Rachel and I took a leap and tried making home made pumpkin pie and tada it was a success. The recipe asked for store bought crust, but I don't much like store bought crust so I just used the same crust recipe as I used for the apple pie I made a few weeks ago.
Now that I am learning how to bake, I'm realizing that everything basically consists of the same stuff, just in different portions. Pumpkin Pie is just flour, sugar, eggs, milk, butter, cream cheese (mmm) and some canned pumpkin with some spices (cinnamon, ginger, vanilla). I am very proud of us for accomplishing, yet again, a successful dessert.

This morning, we woke up and spontaneously joined a "Zumba" class at the gym. It kicked our butts but it was awesome. I've gone to the gym every day this week so far and I haven't done that in quite a while.

Hope you all are enjoying this fall season as much as I am!

The Week My Friend Came to Visit

Last Saturday I picked my friend, Rachel, up from the Airport and since then we've been busy busy going shopping, going out to eat, laying around the house watching movies and laughing the entire time we're doing all of this. I couldn't be happier that she is here- she has certainly brightened my life!

Yesterday was her birthday and we spent the day in Alexandria Bay shopping around at the gift stores and sitting by the water. It was really nice. I'm very glad she chose to spend her 18th birthday with me, even though we didn't go out to "party" or anything.
I was worried I was going to be too boring- I don't know how to host or anything- but she seems pleased with all we've gotten to do. Today, we're attempting to make pumpkin pie and carve pumpkins after Dugan gets home from work this evening. Anyway, we're having a great time, I am very happy she is here, and I will be very sad when she is gone.

Happy Birthday, Friend!

Love you, Rachel!!!
